The stalwart of the pair who would become the Grrls' first human friends, Emily Peters
began to come out of her shell after first meeting Frankie. A smart and observant child,
Emily is sometimes the voice of reason among the Grrls, and often notices things that
other people miss. She has adjusted remarkably well to the strange and mysterious
nature of the Grrls, and is enjoying her friendship with them, as well as having her own
group of friends (monsterkind though they may be). Though shy and reserved by nature,
Emily often displays remarkable bravery and tenacity, despite her dislike of being
occasionally chased by evil monsters (and evil monster hunters as well). Her best
human friend is Theo MacKenzie, and both are devoted to each other; perhaps more so
now, since their adventures with the Grrls sometimes threaten life and limb.

The socially adventurous Theo MacKenzie (who dislikes her given name Theodora) had
hoped to achieve some notoriety in high school, but got a little more than she bargained
for after meeting the Grrls. Though she describes herself as a coward who fears
danger, Theo has more bravery and independence than she realizes (perhaps it's
because her mother works nights and she's at home alone a lot). She has been Emily's
best friend since fourth grade, and has accepted her new life as an ally and friend of the
Grrls, both in the human world and the Unknown World of monsterkind.
A talented but underachieving computer hacker with overprotective parents and zero
social life, save the usual pursuits of 'nerds,' Stuart Nelson's high school days took a
serious upswing upon meeting Punkin. Quickly drawn into the Grrls' world, Stuart
became Punkin's boyfriend and changed his antisocial behavior, helping Punkin to
create a magical laptop computer known as the SpellBook. Since becoming a
MonsterGrrl's boyfriend and being seen hanging with a group of girls around school
more often, Stuart's stock has climbed in his own social set, as well as his
self-confidence around girls (plus, he's getting a first-hand education in the ways of
magic, witches, and monsters).
As the sometimes overbearing but well-meaning principal of Clearwater High School,
Ron Herschel has been charged by both humans and monsterkind as the Grrls' adult
guide and keeper at their new school. Though he does not completely understand the
Grrls, he feels a responsibility to them and does his best, despite often becoming
unnerved by their various cultural differences (plus the fact that they're monsters and
therefore kinda scary). Despite his occasional clumsiness, he is trusted by the Grrls as
a dependable mentor and advisor.
Jessica Hardin-St. James (the one on the left), Heather Langley (the one in the middle)
and Tiffany Stewart (the one on the right) are the wealthy and popular ruling "Clique"
among the student body of Clearwater High. Spoiled, pampered and perhaps the
meanest Mean Girl alive, Jessica despises the Grrls and sees them as rivals, though the
Grrls show little interest in stealing Jessica's thunder. Acutely aware that the Grrls are
different (but strangely unaware of what the Grrls actually are), Jessica will do anything
to bring down "those monster creeps," usually aided by henchblonde Tiffany's
enthusiastic if inept machinations. Smarter than the other two, and also a bit more
sympathetic to the Grrls, Heather usually tries to keep Jessica and Tiffany out of trouble;
unfortunately, she doesn't always succeed.
